Academic Council

Organizational Structure and Leadership

Institute Governing Council

The governance of Lubega Institute of Nursing and Medical Sciences follows a traditional governing council structure in Uganda, with key stakeholders involved in decision-making. The council consists of representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, Local government, senior academic staff, administrative staff, student representatives, and members of the private sector.

Executive Director

The Executive Director is the chief executive officer responsible for the day-to-day operations of the institute. The Executive Director is supported by the Principals of the two institutes.

Principals

Each institute within Lubega Institute of Nursing and Medical Sciences is led by a principal responsible for managing academic programs and supporting research initiatives.

Academic and Senior Administrative Staffing

Academic Staffing

  • Tutors: The institute hires highly qualified individuals with terminal degrees and extensive experience in teaching, research, and clinical practice.
  • Clinical Instructors: This include the health professionals engaged in teaching clinical skills and overseeing student training in healthcare settings.
  • Librarians: These include qualified library staff with relevant expertise to run the institute physical and digital library resources.

Senior Administrative Staffing

  • Administrator: In charge of academic affairs, finance & administration.
  • Academic Registrar: Responsible for student admissions, records, and academic scheduling.
  • Accountant: To oversee the financial management and planning.
  • Human Resource Manager: To manage staff recruitment, welfare, and professional development.
  • Public Relations Officer: To manage external communication and institutional image.
